Chase has announced a larger monthly Sapphire Reserve DoorDash promotion package. If you already use DoorDash with your personal Sapphire Reserve, check which orders actually qualify. The practical question is whether it lowers the cost of orders you would place anyway.
What the announcement says
| Component | Announced amount |
|---|---|
| Qualifying DoorDash order promo | $15 monthly |
| Grocery and essentials promos | Two $10 promos monthly |
Those components add up to a maximum of $35 per month. The maximum describes available promotional value; your useful value depends on what you order and the total checkout cost.
The updated terms confirm the $15 promo
As of October 6, Chase’s operational terms confirm the $15 qualifying-order promo plus two $10 non-restaurant promos. The published terms now support the package described in the anniversary announcement. 2
The two $10 promos have separate-order conditions
The terms for the two $10 non-restaurant discounts require enrolled DashPass and payment with the enrolled card. Each discount is used on a separate order and applies to the subtotal, excluding fees, taxes and tips. Unused monthly value does not roll forward. 2
Judge the benefit by your total spending
Consider a hypothetical order you already planned. If a promo reduces its eligible subtotal by $10 and, before that promo, the delivered basket costs $6 more than your normal shopping option after all fees and charges, the saving against that alternative is only $4. If you place an extra order just to use the promo, the advertised discount may increase your monthly spending instead.
CardTuned’s approach: compare the final basket cost with your usual alternative, use the benefit when that comparison works, and let it expire when it does not. The announcement alone is not a reason to apply for a premium card.
Your next step
Open your DoorDash promo wallet, check the current terms for each offer and confirm the final amount before submitting an order. This article covers the personal Sapphire Reserve announcement; it does not establish eligibility for other Chase products.
