Editorial Policy

CardTuned is built to help readers understand credit card choices through clear comparisons, practical explanations, and transparent methodology.

Reader usefulness first

We aim to answer the decision a reader is actually trying to make, not simply repeat promotional language.

Explain the trade-offs

A strong rewards rate can come with an annual fee, spending requirement, redemption limitation, or other drawback. We aim to show both sides.

Use reliable sources

We prioritize issuer terms, official product pages, regulatory or government resources, and other primary sources when verifying factual claims.

Keep editorial judgment independent

Compensation does not determine our conclusions or whether a card is described positively or negatively.

How we research card information

We review annual fees, rewards structures, welcome offers, statement credits, travel benefits, foreign transaction fees, redemption options, eligibility considerations, and other relevant terms. Because issuers can change offers or benefits, readers should confirm current terms with the issuer before applying.

Recommendations and rankings

There is no single best credit card for every person. Recommendations are based on the intended use case of the article and the trade-offs that matter for that audience. A card that performs well for travel may not be the strongest choice for cash back, credit building, or low-cost everyday use.

Updates and corrections

Credit card terms can change quickly. We aim to review and update material information when changes are identified. If you find a factual error or outdated card term, email [email protected] with the article URL and the detail that needs review. We aim to verify corrections against reliable primary sources.

Published, Updated and Last verified

  • Published is the date an article first became public. We retain it when the article is edited.
  • Updated identifies an editorial revision, such as a corrected comparison, added explanation or clarified presentation. It does not mean every offer was checked again.
  • Last verified records when the stated facts were checked against their sources. A partial review names the cards, terms or facts checked; it does not refresh the date for unrelated claims.

Editorial QA records checks of presentation, table/body consistency, links, anchors and forms. QA is separate from issuer-term verification. A verification date may precede publication when research was completed before the article went live. We do not advance a verification date merely because a page was saved or reformatted.

When issuer pages disagree, we compare the product page with the pricing and offer disclosures linked to the same application route, record the source and verification date, and identify unresolved differences instead of combining terms from different offers.

Advertising and affiliate relationships

Some pages may contain advertising or compensated links when clearly disclosed. These relationships may affect which products are economically available to CardTuned, but they do not determine our editorial assessment of a card’s strengths, weaknesses, or suitability.
