Restrictions to know
The 4% gas/EV rate applies to the first $5,000 of combined eligible purchases each year, then 1%. Merchant category coding and net-purchase rules control bonus eligibility. A balance transfer or cash advance costs the greater of $5 or 3%; foreign transactions cost up to 1%. New credit is generally limited to California residents, subject to stated military exceptions.
