Hyatt–AAdvantage Is Changing: Link Accounts Before November 15

Link Hyatt and AAdvantage before November 15, 2026, then track the separate earning, selection and use deadlines during the partnership transition.

The Hyatt AAdvantage account-linking deadline is easy to mistake for a deadline to use every reward. The programs’ transition announcement separates those events. If you want access to the remaining eligible cross-program rewards, check the account link first; then record the deadlines for the particular rewards you earn.

These are the earning-year endpoints in the announcement, not a promise that every member gets an award. You still need to reach the applicable threshold and satisfy the reward’s eligibility rules. 1

A reward earned in December can have a later selection deadline

Hyatt’s updated terms preserve eligible AAdvantage selections for members with linked accounts who earn qualifying Milestone Rewards in 2026. If the applicable 90-day selection period runs into 2027, that selection window remains available. AAdvantage choices will not be offered for milestones earned in 2027. 2

For example, suppose you earn an eligible Hyatt milestone late in December and your account displays a selection deadline in March. The calendar turning to January is not, by itself, a reason to assume that unexpired choice disappeared. Save the displayed deadline and check the rules for the option before selecting it.

Track these as separate events; the deadline shown for your actual reward controls.

What continues after the broader relationship ends?

The announcement says members may still choose 500 AAdvantage miles instead of World of Hyatt points on eligible Hyatt stays by providing their AAdvantage number at check-in. This is an alternative earning choice, not an extra 500 miles stacked on the Hyatt points. 3

Compare what you would otherwise earn for a particular stay before making that choice. Do not assume it preserves all of the enhanced partnership’s rewards or gives you a new way to earn an expired milestone option.

What to check in your accounts now

  1. Sign in through the official Hyatt and American Airlines sites and check the current linking status.
  2. If you want eligible cross-program awards and the accounts are unlinked, complete the available linking process before the deadline. Save confirmation.
  3. List rewards already earned separately from thresholds you might reach later this year.
  4. For each reward, record the earning date, selection deadline and use-by conditions. If the screen and terms disagree, contact the program before making an irreversible choice.

The useful action now is an account check, not an unplanned hotel stay or flight. Linking can preserve an available choice; it does not make spending toward an otherwise unnecessary milestone worthwhile.

If a card’s travel benefits are part of your renewal decision, compare their ongoing value separately in our cancel-or-downgrade guide. The transition dates alone do not determine whether a card is worth keeping.
